High School Assessments

Monitoring Student Achievement

High school assessments are critical tools used to monitor individual student achievement. AFHS prioritizes three purposes for these assessments as outlined in the State of Wisconsin's Balanced Assessment Framework. http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/oea/pdf/bas.pdf

MAP

The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment is one of the benchmark assessments used by AFHS teachers to monitor individual student achievement. This assessment is given to all ninth grade students in the fall and spring in mathematics and reading and to some students in the winter to more thoroughly monitor individual growth. The following link provides parents/guardians with up-to-date information about the MAP assessment and how it is used to inform classroom instruction.

WKCE

The Wisconsin Knowledge Concepts Exam (WKCE) assessment is a summative assessment used by AFHS teachers to monitor individual student achievement and to inform program changes. This assessment is given to all tenth grade students in the fall in mathematics, reading, science, language arts and social studies. This assessment is mandated by the state for federal accountability purposes to ensure schools are meeting the standards set forth by the State of Wisconsin. For more information about the performance levels of Adams-Friendship High School students please visit the following website. http://dpi.wi.gov/sig/index.html

PLAN

The PLAN assessment is a summative assessment used by AFHS teachers to monitor individual student achievement and to inform program improvements. The PLAN assessment is given to all tenth grade students in the fall in mathematics, reading, language arts and science. This assessment directly correlates with the EXPLORE assessment that students take in Adams-Friendship as eighth graders. After students take the PLAN assessment, high school teachers are able to monitor if students have shown growth from the time they took the EXPLORE assessment to the time they took the PLAN assessment. The following link provides additional information on the PLAN assessment and how it is used to predict ACT scores. http://www.act.org/plan
