"The Resources of the School are the Resources of the Community and
the Resources of the Community are the Resources of the School"

Dear Parents, Grandparents, Students, and the Adams-Friendship Community:

The statement in bold above, speaks to one of our core beliefs. We believe that everything we have to offer from our facilities to our knowledge is there for the community. Our commitment extends beyond school-age children and includes those who use our facilities for recreation, adult education classes, etc. Likewise, we believe that our community has resources to offer us. For example, many members of the community have shared their talents with others through the Community Learning Center. The UW-Extension Nutrition Education Project has been an active and valued partner in our schools. These are but a few examples that bring these words to life.

This calendar of events provides further evidence of our commitment to this core belief. Every month has example after example of opportunities for students, parents, and the community to participate in valuable and meaningful school activities. This long list of events is only possible because the people in this district and community are committed to providing quality experiences.

Frequently, we forget to acknowledge those individuals that are the "resources of the school". These resources include our staff. Our cooks, teachers, bus drivers, secretaries, custodians, teacher assistants, and administrators have committed their lives to making a difference in the lives of children and the community. We cannot thank them enough for this commitment.

We also recognize that we are only a small piece of the puzzle. It takes parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors who provide a positive influence as "resources of the community" to provide the support and experiences that our children need in order to become educated and contributing members of our society. Fortunately, this community recognizes that our children are the most valuable resource we have and provides what is necessary to prepare students to perform for life. We thank you for your outstanding and continued support of the young people of our community.

Finally, we encourage you to participate in one or many of the activities listed on the calendar. Further, as a resource of the community, if you would like to offer a service in our schools or Community Learning Center Program, please call, as we will be happy to hear from you.

We welcome you to your schools and we'll leave the lights on for you!
